Also, we're appearing at Anime North, absolutely, and... Okay, fuck the alliteration. We're going to be at Anime North 2012 again this year, because AN is our totally awesome home convention, as media, because they love us. We're still piecing together our schedule, but anyone interested, here's where you can find us.

Our resident ranter reaves Raimi revenants who rear at the recent reboot. Of Spiderman. Take a look at his awesome special effects.

As usual we're sporadic with our convention uploads, but I finally got around to putting up our clips from Toronto Comic Con this past March. There are two videos up and there may be one more, but I'll post if there is.

[IXI! Digest] First Impressions, Spring 2012 Anime Season

[IXI! Digest]
First Impressions, Spring 2012 Anime Season

Welcome again to my usual article, as I bring you my first impressions of the new Spring 2012 Anime season.  I realize I’m a little later than usual this time, but that’s due to the sheer volume of anime I’ve ended up picking up.  There are just so many good anime that have aired this season that I couldn’t quite keep up immediately.  After a little bit of a marathon however, I’m now ready to give my two cents.  So, let’s get started, shall we?

Brentalwars

Our podcast cherry has been popped for real this time, as the fabulous nerdcore superstar Brentalfloss makes his appearance as Area of Effect's first guest! Brent Black comes on to shoot the breeze, talk some Star Wars and Trek, and to talk about his new album, Bits of Me, giving us some eat information on the process behind it as well as some exclusive cryptic tidbits of information! Listen in the sidebar or check it out here for the shownotes and download!

New episode of Area of Effect! In this week's audio mess, the only ones around are Ichi, Raven, and ZeroGen, so we fill the discussion with lots of videos, stories from conventions we didn't go to, and talk about the first Canadian Pokemon tournament! Grab a listen from our new widget in the sidebar!

This video is on fire

I had the fiery delight of being invited to do the videography for the Wizard World afterparty by one of the performers, who is a friend of mine, and got me to film the performance of her band, Crystalline Decline, and the following fire performer stageshow by Illuminair Entertainment. This video will be worth checking out, especially for Mortal Kombat fans. Ignited your curiosity?

New video! We bust out the newest party game, Mario Party 9, and literally take it for a test drive. See who becomes our Superstar here.

Big events ahead, most of them involve fire

Alright, so here's what's up - This coming weekend in Toronto is Wizard World Toronto Comicon, but our attention is focused elsewhere. As mentioned on Area of Effect, we will be attending the first Canadian Pokemon video game championships (Check out the Facebook event!). Look for me in the Team Aqua bandana, with the blue Digivice. Yup.

That night, I'm going to be at the Wizard World afterparty (Facebook event bitches) filming a friend of mine who is performing. :D

Set to appear on the next Area of Effect podcast is the fabulous Brentalfloss who is looking to promote his new album which I have just preordered (Buy it nao). Sit tight for that to go up next week.

The following weekend, that same friend I mentioned earlier is mounting a Street Fighter II tournament out of the Amsterdam Brewery (holy shit another Facebook event) here in Toronto as a fundraiser for a live pyro show called Super Street Fire (Facebook page yo), a live event that involves having real fire come out as two people "fight" each other in a real life game of Street Fighter.

NEW SHOW - Survive!!

NEW SHOW - Survive!!

Yes! A series that was conceptualized along with Not My Forte, SURVIVE!! is basically our survival/hoarde mode series, where we get as far as we can on one life. Luckily our first video goes pretty smoothly. It's a playtest of the Nightwing DLC for Batman: Arkham City. Check it out!
