First Impressions of the Winter 2012 Anime Season

Hello again, and welcome to the usual segment.  2012 has begun, and with it comes the usual Winter Anime season, just waiting to be reviewed.  I must say though, it’s hard to find anything bad to say about this season so far.  There are a lot of great shows, and not a lot of bad ones.  That said, let’s get down to the details, shall we?  Here are my first impressions of the new Winter 2012 season.

I'd like to take a break in our regularly scheduled whoring of our own videos to whore someone else's for a change. Anyone actively following us knows that we are in scripting phases of our own tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider EXE. In the interest of promoting another such ambitious amateur tokusatsu, I present to you - Gun Caliber!



This hilarious no-budget production features a gun-toting, foul-mouthed, perverted HERO OF JUSTICE living in Japan. He shoots first and drinks booze later. Fuck asking questions. His henshin'd form looks like a rusty, vaguely Kabuto-era version of Kamen Rider Gai, with a huge, misaligned yet awesome cloak. The above video is a teaser trailer for their upcoming full feature movie, GUN CALIBER. Any tokusatsu fan (with a sense of humor) should not miss this!

Welcome to my third annual Top 10 Anime of the Year section here at IXI Studios!  2011 has come and gone, and now its time for me to list what I consider to be the best anime of the year.  What shows have impressed me most over the course of the year?  Artistic vision, writing, general entertainment value, I factor all of the above into my ranking for the year.  I also realize that the year ended several days ago, so this list is a little late coming.  I blame that on having to sit down and watch Tiger and Bunny, one of the most talked about shows of the year, that I had never actually found the time to sit down and watch… Which now feels like a waste of time because it didn’t actually make my top 10.  Still an awesome show, but I cut it out somewhere in my top 15 because I didn’t think it was one of the best.  Then again, I’m the guy who had issues with Star Driver until about halfway through, so take from that what you will.
